Avast Ultimate 1 Station Activation Guide

This guide applies exclusively to the activation of the Avast Ultimate 1 station package after installing the program. For this license, three things are most important: the correct key, product compatibility with the purchase, and monitoring the 1 device limit.

Activation with a Product Key

Method 1: Activation in the Program Interface

This is the basic and recommended method for Windows.

  1. Open Avast Premium Security.
  2. Go to ☰ Menu > Enter activation code.
  3. Paste the key exactly as it was issued, including hyphens.
  4. Click Enter or Activate.
  5. If the code is assigned to multiple components of the Ultimate package, select the items to activate and click Activate & install.

You can usually find the key in one of three places:

  • in the purchase confirmation email,
  • on your Avast account,
  • on the activation card from the seller.

If you purchased the code from an external seller and the program does not accept it, it is possible that you first need to exchange the reseller code for the correct activation code on your Avast account.

Method 2: Running Activation from CMD

Avast Ultimate for home users does not have a publicly documented console command that independently enters the key like slmgr.vbs in Windows. In practice, CMD is used here to launch the application, and the key entry is performed in the GUI.

Run the Command Prompt as an administrator and enter:

"%ProgramFiles%\AVAST Software\Avast\AvastUI.exe"

If Avast is installed in a different location, use the full path to AvastUI.exe. After opening the program, go to:

☰ Menu > Enter activation code

This is the safest "from CMD" method, as it does not rely on unofficial switches.

Method 3: Telephone Activation

If the key is rejected, the license does not appear on your account, or a station block appears after changing hardware, contact Avast support at:

00 800 121 1654

Prepare before the conversation:

  • the email address used for the purchase,
  • the order number,
  • the product key,
  • the product name: Avast Ultimate 1 station,
  • information on whether this is an activation after changing the computer.

Activation Verification

Avast does not provide an official equivalent of ospp.vbs /dstatus or slmgr.vbs /xpr for consumer licenses. The activation status is checked in the program and on the Avast account.

Checking in the GUI

Open:

☰ Menu > My Subscriptions

The activation is correct when you see an active subscription and the expiration date. Additionally, the program's main window should not display a message about the need to purchase.

Running the program:

On your Avast account, go to the subscriptions section and check if the status is Subscribed or Expiring. For a 1-station license, pay attention to whether the device limit has already been used. Troubleshooting Activation

Avast displays text messages more often than numerical codes during activation. Below are the most common real errors:

  1. Incorrect code. Please try again or sign in with your Avast Account. Most often a typo or incorrect format. Re-paste the key without manually rewriting it.

  2. This code is not valid. You are usually trying to enter the seller's code instead of the actual activation code. Replace it with the activation code on your Avast account.

  3. Sorry, this code has expired. The code relates to an expired subscription. Check the validity date on your Avast account.

  4. Sorry, this code is for a different app. The key does not match the installed product. Ensure you are activating the correct component of the Ultimate package.

  5. Sorry, you've used this code too many times. The key has already been used and the device limit has been reached. For a 1-station license, this usually means the previous computer still "holds" the activation.

  6. Please connect to the internet. The program cannot verify the key online. Check your connection, DNS, firewall, and proxy.

  7. Sorry, our servers aren't responding now. Please try again later. There is a problem on Avast's server side. Wait and try again later.

What to Do When the Key Does Not Work

Follow this order:

  1. Check if the key comes from an Avast email, Avast account, or a legitimate activation card.
  2. Compare the product with the purchase: Avast Ultimate 1 station.
  3. Re-paste the key, including hyphens.
  4. Log in to your Avast account and check if the subscription is visible.
  5. If it's a code from an external seller, replace it with the actual activation code.
  6. If it still doesn't work, call 00 800 121 1654.

If the purchased key does not appear on your account and cannot be replaced, it's often a sign of a distribution problem or an incorrect sales channel.

Reactivation After Hardware Change

With a 1 station license, changing the computer or motherboard often requires reactivation.

The safest scenario:

  1. Uninstall Avast from the old device, if you have access to it.
  2. Install Avast on the new computer.
  3. Activate with the same key or log in to your Avast account.
  4. If you see the message you've used this code too many times, ask Avast support to release the station.
