Before You Begin
Microsoft Windows Server 2016 RDS (Remote Desktop Services) is a service that enables remote connection to a server using the RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol). To use this feature, you need the appropriate access licenses, known as RDS CAL (Client Access License). For RDS, there are two types of CAL: per user (User CAL) and per device (Device CAL). Each of these license types allows for legal connection to the RDS host.

Step 1: Step-by-Step Installation

Starting the installation: Insert the Windows Server 2016 installation media and boot the computer from it. Select the language, time format, and currency, and keyboard layout, and then click "Next".

Activating with a Product Key
Method 1: Activation using GUI
- Open Server Manager.
- Go to Manage > Add Roles and Features.
- Select Remote Desktop Services and install the Remote Desktop Licensing role.
- Run Remote Desktop Licensing Manager and activate the license server.

Post-Installation Configuration
- System updates: Ensure the system is up-to-date by installing all available updates using Windows Update.
- Network configuration: Configure network settings, such as IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
- Security: Configure the firewall and other security settings to protect the server from unauthorized access.

Troubleshooting
