Step 1: Installation Step-by-Step

Installing the RD Licensing Role

1. Open Server Manager on the Windows Server 2016 server.
2. Click Add Roles and Features.
3. Select Remote Desktop Services and add the RD Licensing role.
4. Follow the wizard's instructions to complete the installation.

Activating the RD Licensing Server

1. Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.
2. Right-click on the server and select Activate Server.
3. Follow the wizard to activate the server online or by phone.

Installing CAL

1. In Remote Desktop Licensing Manager, right-click on the server and select Install Licenses.
2. Select the User CAL license type and enter the license key for 50 User CAL.
3. Complete the installation according to the wizard's instructions.

1. Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.
2. Right-click on the server and select Install Licenses.
3. Enter the product key and complete the activation process.

For Office:

Post-Installation Configuration

1. Configure the licensing mode using PowerShell:

   Set-RDLicenseConfiguration -LicenseServer "YourLicensingServer" -Mode PerUser
   

2. Ensure the license server is properly configured and available on the network.

Troubleshooting

Problem 1: Unable to connect to the license server

Solution: Ensure that the license server is enabled and available on the network. Check your firewall settings.

Problem 2: CAL activation error

Problem 3: CALs are not visible in RD Licensing Manager

Solution: Ensure that the license server is properly configured. Try restarting the RD Licensing service.

Problem 4: RDS connection error

Solution: Check if the user has an assigned CAL license. Check the logs in Event Viewer.

Solution: Ensure that applications are properly configured on the RDS server and that the user has the necessary permissions.
