8. Select the Target Disk
- Select the partition/disk where the system will be installed.
- If necessary, delete existing partitions and create new ones (be careful – this will result in data loss!).

slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
slmgr.vbs /ato
- After a few seconds, a message about successful activation will appear.
Activation Verification
To ensure that the system has been properly activated, use the command:
slmgr.vbs /xpr
A window with license status information will appear (e.g., "This system is permanently activated").
Note: In case of activation problems, check your internet connection and key correctness.
Step 4: Installation and Assignment of User CALs
User CAL licenses do not require installation on the server - they are documented within the company and assigned to users according to Microsoft's licensing policy. It is recommended to keep a record of users who have CAL.
- Assign a User CAL to each user who will be using the server resources.
- In case of an audit, you must present the purchased licenses and the list of assigned users.
Tip: User CALs are independent of devices - a user can use different computers, but only one person at a time.
Step 5: Post-Installation Configuration
After activating the system, it is recommended to perform basic configuration:
- Change the server name to comply with the company's policy (Control Panel > System > Change settings > Change).
- Join the server to the Active Directory domain (if used in the organization).
- Install the latest system updates (Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update).
- Configure server roles and features (e.g., domain controller, file server, Hyper-V) through Server Manager.
- Create user accounts and groups according to the security policy.
- Configure the network firewall and security policies.
- Perform a backup of the configuration (e.g., Windows Server Backup).
Tip: Regularly monitor the system's status and update drivers and security software. If you need help, please contact us at [email protected] or call 00 800 121 1654.
Step 6: Troubleshooting
Below, we present the most common issues encountered during the installation and activation of Windows Server 2025 Standard, along with proven solutions.
1. Error: "Product key is invalid"
- Cause: Typo in the key or using a key for a different edition.
- Solution: Check the key entry carefully. Ensure you are using the key for the Standard 2025 version. Copy the key without spaces and hyphens.
2. Error: "Cannot connect to Microsoft activation server"
- Cause: No internet connection or network firewall blockage.
- Solution: Check your network connection, temporarily disable Windows Defender firewall, and try to activate the system again.
3. Error: "Activation limit has been exceeded"
- Cause: The product key has been used on too many devices.
- Solution: Contact KluczeSoft or Microsoft support to reset the license.
4. Error: "No required disk drivers during installation"
- Cause: The installer does not see the hard drive (e.g., RAID, NVMe).
- Solution: Download the disk controller drivers from the server manufacturer's website and load them during installation (the "Load driver" option).
5. Error: "System does not see all processor cores"
- Cause: Outdated BIOS/UEFI or incorrect hardware configuration.
- Solution: Update BIOS/UEFI, check CPU settings in BIOS, and ensure all processors are properly installed.
6. Problem: "Cannot add server to domain"
- Cause: Network or DNS configuration error.
- Solution: Check IP settings, configure DNS correctly (ideally, point to the domain controller as DNS), and check connectivity to the domain controller.
7. Problem: "Unable to run additional virtual machines"
- Cause: Exceeded the VM limit for the Standard license.
- Solution: To run more than 2 VMs, you need to re-license all server cores for each additional pair of VMs.
