Cause
A general MAK activation server error — the server rejected the activation request without providing a specific reason. This may indicate a problem with Microsoft's servers or with the key.
Symptoms
- During activation, the message appears: "The activation server was unable to activate the computer"
- Error code:
0xC004B100 - English version: "The activation server determined that the computer could not be activated"
Step-by-Step Solution
Wait a few minutes and try again. If the error persists, activate by phone or contact Microsoft support.
Solution for Windows Server
- Open PowerShell as administrator
- Enter the key:
slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
- Activate:
slmgr /ato
- Check the status:
slmgr /xpr
Verification
After performing the steps, check if the activation was successful:
- Windows: Settings → System → Activation → should be "Windows is activated"
- Or:
slmgr /xprin the command line
