Before You Begin

Step 1: Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Starting the installation: Insert the Windows Server 2016 installation media and boot the computer from it. Select the language, time format, and currency, and keyboard layout, and then click "Next".

  2. Starting the installation: Click "Install Now".

  3. Selecting the version: Select the version of Windows Server 2016 you want to install (e.g., Standard or Datacenter), and then click "Next".

  4. Accepting the license: Read and accept the license terms, and then click "Next".

  5. Selecting the installation type: Select "Custom: Install only Windows (Advanced)".

  6. Selecting the disk: Select the partition where you want to install the system, and click "Next".

  7. Completing the installation: After the installation is complete, the system will restart. Configure the basic settings, such as the administrator password.

Activating with a Product Key

Method 1: Activation using GUI

  1. Open Server Manager.
  2. Go to Manage > Add Roles and Features.
  3. Select Remote Desktop Services and install the Remote Desktop Licensing role.
  4. Run Remote Desktop Licensing Manager and activate the license server.

Method 2: Activation using the command line

For Windows Server:

For Office:

Verifying Activation

To verify activation, use the following commands:

For Windows Server:

slmgr.vbs /xpr

For Office:

cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

Post-Installation Configuration

  1. System updates: Ensure the system is up-to-date by installing all available updates using Windows Update.
  2. Network configuration: Configure network settings, such as IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
  3. Security: Configure the firewall and other security settings to protect the server from unauthorized access.
