Downloading the Installer

Office Deployment Tool (ODT)

Download ODT from the Microsoft website, create a configuration.xml file:

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Create a folder, e.g. C:\Project2019, and place setup.exe and configuration.xml inside.
2. Open the Command Prompt as an administrator:

cd C:\Project2019
setup.exe /configure configuration.xml

1. Wait for the installation to complete — Click-to-Run will install automatically.
2. Project will appear in the Start menu.

Activating with a Product Key

Method 1: GUI

File → Account → Change product key — enter the key and confirm.

Troubleshooting

1. Error 0xC004F074

Problem with the KMS activation service. Check the key, system date, and connection. Use phone activation: 00 800 121 1654.

2. Click-to-Run and MSI Conflict

Older Office/Project MSI blocks C2R installation. Uninstall, restart, and reinstall.

3. Key Incompatibility — Standard vs Professional

Standard key does not activate Professional and vice versa. Check your order and installed edition.

4. Performance Issues

Large files work slowly on weaker hardware. Close unnecessary programs, work on an SSD, and check COM add-ins.

5. Font and Display Issues

Update your system, check screen scaling, and install missing fonts.

6. Installer Closes Without a Message

Lack of permissions, damaged XML, or antivirus blockage. Run as administrator and check XML syntax.
