Error 0x8007000D: The data is invalid

This error occurs in: Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022, Windows 10, Windows 11.

Cause

The product key data is invalid or corrupted in the registry. This can happen after an incomplete installation or registry damage.

Symptoms

• During activation, the message appears: "The data is invalid"
• Error code: 0x8007000D
• English version: "The data is invalid"

Step-by-Step Solution

Try to re-enter the key: slmgr.vbs /ipk <your-5x5-key>. If this does not help, run SFC /scannow as an administrator.

Solution for Windows Server

1. Open PowerShell as administrator
2. Enter the key:

slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

1. Activate:

slmgr /ato

1. Check the status:

slmgr /xpr

Verification

After completing the steps, check if the activation was successful:

• Windows: Settings → System → Activation → should be "Windows is activated"
• Or: slmgr /xpr in the command line
